” I will go before you and level the mountains [to make the crooked places straight]; I will break in pieces the doors of bronze and cut asunder the bars of iron.
” I will go before you and level the mountains [to make the crooked places straight]; I will break in pieces the doors of bronze and cut asunder the bars of iron.
For as he thinks in his heart, so is he…. (Proverbs 23:7)
What we conceive in our imagination is what we will become eventually. What you are thinking or what is predominant in your mind will dictate how your life will go. In the same way, if you allow thoughts of fear to creep into your heart, it will cause you to give up fighting for the best! Napoleon Hill who is best known worldwide for his book “Think and Grow Rich” which has sold millions of copies and contributed to the success of countless readers. Has this to say about imagination,
“You will never have a definite purpose in life; you will never have self-confidence; you will never have initiative and leadership unless you first create these qualities in your imagination and see yourself in possession of them…. imagination is the most marvelous, miraculous, inconceivably powerful force the world has ever known.”
The Dictionary describes imagination as “a conception or mental creation, of what is not actually present to the senses.” So, this is something that is not tangible to our five physical senses. It is something out of this realm, it’s beyond and above us.
The ability for human beings to be creative is a gift from God. We are created in His image and likeness of God. (Genesis 1:26-27). Take a look at the Bible in the first chapter of Genesis and see God display the majesty of creativity in creating the universe. God created every thing which is visible out of something invisible or intangible! God is a creative God and our creative ability is an endowment from God which we will be accountable for, one day before God!
God has given us the gift of imagination for good use, this gift is to be used to fashion our lives in alignment with God’s prescription for living a successful life. (Joshua 1:8). If we don’t fashion our thought pattern in alignment with God by renewing our mind with the Word of God the devil will hijack it for evil and use it to harm us. That is exactly what happened in Genesis chapter 6, take a look:
“5 The Lord observed the extent of human wickedness on the earth, and he saw that everything they thought or imagined was consistently and totally evil. 6 So the Lord was sorry he had ever made them and put them on the earth. It broke his heart.” (Genesis 6:5-6) If you continue reading that passage to the end you will discover that, wrong thinking was the primary gate way that allowed evil and wickedness to prevail on the earth, and this was the reason why God brought the flood. God literally started again and repopulated the earth through Noah.
For our own good, we should not accommodate wrong thinking, such as fear, worries, anxiety, ungodly images and things that will pollute our imagination and pervert us. By perversion I mean, imagination that will be counter productive to God’s plans and purposes for us. The Bible makes it clear that we are already blessed in the heavenly places. (Ephesians 1:3) God is not just going to bless us, He has ALREADY blessed us. But you and I have got to know how to move our stuff from the heavenly realm to the earth realm by renewing our mind to what God has already done for us in spite of the opposition and resistance against us.
Philippians 4:6-9 is a good prescription for conducting our thinking in all circumstances.
“6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. ……8 And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. 9 Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.” (Philippians 4:6-9)
Verse 6 is telling us not to give room to fear and anxiety, but to ask for what we need. And Verse 8 -9 and is telling us how to stay focused after we have prayed so that we can see the manifestation of our heavenly blessings in the earth realm. And that is by THINKING GOOD THOUGHTS. Thinking right after we have made our request to God in prayer is very important to receiving the answer to our prayer!
The ability to think and be creativity is a powerful tool God has given us to make our way successful in life. Lets us use it for good, let’s take charge of our thinking, the voices and images we accommodate in our space.
“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” (Romans 12:2)
God bless you!
Praying for you. Love, Shade
Happy New Year!!!
“Jesus said to him,“If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” (Mark 9:23)
It’s good to be back after the Christmas break. I hope your festive season was filled with blessings and beautiful memories. Personally for me, it was wonderful to take time out and travel down to spend some quality time with my family living in the south of the United Kingdom.
I’m absolutely thrilled to share this post with you today. Let me take this opportunity to congratulate you for making it into another year! I thank God for His grace that sustained you in 2013 and brought you through into another year and a new season in your life.
Like many, you probably have been taking time to reflect on last year’s achievements and also, things that didn’t go as planned. And maybe now like most of us, you have set new goals to accomplish in this new year of 2014. I want to take this opportunity to encourage you to believe in your dream. Believe in yourself. Jesus said to him “who believes” all things are possible.
In general, with many people, the problem is not so much as not having dreams for their lives. But what often sets us back is doubt and unbelief in ourselves. Especially when we are surrounded by negative environment and when we encounter obstacles. A large percentage of people most times, subconsciously, give in to the negative voices and images challenging and confronting them from moving forward. But if in moments like this we bring God into the equation, allowing God’s word to shape our perceptive and asking God for help we will witness a miracle.
Miracle by definition is something that can not be explained by logic reasoning. It is beyond the natural world we live in, it is supernatural. God is a supernatural God and He specialises in doing the impossible. No matter how difficult and impossible the situation, God can usher in a turn around. When God steps into an impossible situation, it becomes possible!
Let me encourage you today that no matter how dark the situation looks in the world, as Christians what we need to do is to, switch on the Light to dispel the darkness. The bible says we are the light of the world. We are the light of the World because Jesus is Lord over everything and He lives in us.
For the sake of practicality, how do you turn on the light when you are confronted with dark and gloomy situation, evil medical report, home repossession, difficult family circumstances and others? Take a look at what Jesus says about it
“23 At that time you won’t need to ask me for anything. I tell you the truth, you will ask the Father directly, and he will grant your request because you use my name. 24You haven’t done this before. Ask, using my name, and you will receive, and you will have abundant joy.” (John 16:23-24)
We have a choice, we can give God the opportunity of turning our impossible situations to possibility by asking God for what we need in the name of Jesus! Let us hold on by faith to the word of God in every area of life, because for God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we can ask or think.
I pray that you will allow the Holy Spirit to lead and guide you into every good and perfect will of God for your life in this Year. I pray that you prosper spiritually , emotionally, physically and financially. And may the Lord keep you and preserver you from all evil. Have a blessed and prosperous year in Jesus name!
But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired.” (Isaiah 40:30-31)
A good percentage of people live the best part of their lives either regretting past failures or been anxious and dreading the challenges of tomorrow. But neither of these should define us, because the God we serve is not “I was” or “ I will be” but “I AM”. That says a lot about the importance of TODAY in our spiritual growth.
Sometimes we want to get there quicker than God. What then is the importance of getting to our destination and God is not part of it? The Bible says everything we build will be tested and revealed by fire. “The work of each [one] will become [plainly, openly] known (shown for what it is); for the day [of Christ] will disclose and declare it, because it will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test and critically appraise the character and worth of the work each person has done.” (1 Corinthian 3:13). AMP
What God wants to do in us is far greater than the destination He is taking us to. What God wants to deposit inside us spiritually, is far more precious than anything of this world. What God wants to give birth to in us, occurs in stages, it is a process. Spiritual maturity is a process of precept upon precept and layer upon layer (using King James’ Translation).
Leonard Wedel describes spiritual maturity as this: “A mature person does not take himself too seriously…keeps himself alert in mind…does not always view with alarm every adverse situation that arises…is too big to be little…. never feels too great to do little things, and is never too proud to do humble things…never accepts either success or failure in themselves as permanent….is one who is able to control his or her impulses…is not afraid to make mistakes…has faith in themselves which becomes stronger as it is fortified by their faith in God.”
Spiritual maturity takes place as we learn to master how to focus on today. Growing day by day. I also believe that, 2 Corinthian 6:2 really helps to simplify the process of spiritual maturity because of the emphasis on the present; “For God says, “At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you.”[Indeed, the “right time” is now. Todayis the day of salvation.” (2 Corinthians 6:2) LT
The life of faith, is not about yesterday or tomorrow, it’s about how we respond now to the Word of God TODAY. Learning to ask, “what do I need to accomplish today? How do I apply the Word of God and myself to it? Spiritual maturity takes place in daily steps of faith, and not in giant leaps. As we learn to choose God’s word above our feelings as final authority in every area of our life daily, we will be transformed from glory to glory.
“And all of us, as with unveiled face, [because we] continued to behold [in the Word of God] as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendor and from one degree of glory to another; [for this comes] from the Lord [Who is] the Spirit. (2 Corinthian 3:18) AMP
Let us be encouraged to make the most of today remembering we are been transformed from glory to glory.
Much love to you from here ~ And Happy Thanksgiving to you and loved ones! 🙂 God bless you!
In the past, I have heard people make comments like, “Christianity or Church is for the weak who can’t cope, it’s for people who can’t pull themselves up and get on with life, so they need spiritual rules as prop for support” You know what ? I don’t blame people who make such comments, it’s because they don’t understand the true meaning of Christianity. The Christian life is not lived by human strength nor is it about rules and regulations. Christianity is about living in the grace of God. “For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son so that anyone who believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
What God requires from us is to live by faith in what His son, Jesus Christ has done for us. God is totally satisfied with the price paid by Jesus on the cross, and there is nothing more we can add to it. ” ..all have sinned and are falling short of the honor and glory which God bestows and receives.”Romans 3:23) All our good works before God is like flighty rags, when compared to what Christ has done. The Just shall live by faith in what Christ has accomplished. The bible says, “without faith it is impossible to please God” (Hebrews 11:6).
It must be said, walking by faith is not a bed of roses, there is a fight element involved in the faith walk. There is no where in the Bible that says following Christ is a trouble free zone. We have an adversary, Satan. However, the Bible makes it clear that we are over-comers, (Revelation 12:11) By the blood the Lamb (Jesus Christ), we are more than conquerors in every battle. This is why Paul in the scripture instructed Timothy to fight a good fight of faith (Spiritual warfare) for the prophecies made over his life. (1 Timothy 1:18-19); (1 Timothy 6:12-13)
As Christians, we are New Creation in Christ “Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come!” (2 Corinthians 5:17) The first Adam sinned and handed dominion authority to the Satan, Jesus came as the second Adam and restored dominion back to us! As New Creation, we are SEATED in heavenly places with Christ, ruling and reigning with Him.
As New Creation, we are suppose to live the abundant life Jesus came to give us (John 10:10) by, renewing our mind with the Word of God. We are suppose to be governed by the Spiritual law, the Word of God. God’s word is supreme, it is higher and above the natural law. It’s clear from the scripture that, the visible things which can be seen originated from the invisible (Spiritual) world. The invisible God created all that is visible to us.
The bible shows that, as New Creation, we are the seed of Christ, being Born Again by the incorruptable Word of God, which is alive and lives forever! (1 Peter 1:23). In other words, we are partakers of the Divine Nature (Heirs of Christ), we are living in Christ, ruling and reigning with Him. “ If then you have been raised with Christ [to a new life, thus sharing His resurrection from the dead], aim at and seek the [rich, eternal treasures] that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 And set your minds and keep them set on what is above (the higher things), not on the things that are on the earth. 3 For [as far as this world is concerned] you have died, and your [new, real] life is hidden with Christ in God.” (Colossians 3:1-3)
Can you see that? This is saying, although, we are physically on the earth, but by position, we have been raised into a place higher than any in this natural world. We have been positioned in Christ and all that Christ has is our’s. So how do we apply this to everyday living? We rule and reign with Christ by exercising the authority delegated to us in Jesus name. In Jesus Name we subdue every work of the devil on earth. As Jesus Christ is, so are we also in this world. (1 John 4:17).
It’s very clear from Scriptures what Jesus was about when He was on earth – He went about on earth destroying the works of the devil and establishing God’s Kingdom. “How God anointed and consecrated Jesus of Nazareth with the [Holy] Spirit and with strength and ability and power; how He went about doing good and, in particular, curing all who were harassed and oppressed by [the power of] the devil, for God was with Him.” (Acts 10:38). This same responsibility is now delegated to us as followers of Christ. We have the same Holy Spirit that was with Jesus now living in us. (John 14:26)
The great news about this fight of faith is this, it is done from, ‘A POSITION OF REST’.
First, note that the scripture says Jesus is SEATED at the right hand of God, meaning we are also SEATED at the right hand of God. SEATING posture does not signify fighting, it signifies RESTING. SEATING is a position of REST. Second, notice that we are seating in heavenly places above the earthly realm, and any powers of darkness, this means the devil is also under our feet, if we positioned in Christ. We are suppose to pray and decree the will of God over all things from this higher domain of authority. You have the authority to command demonic orchestrations to cease in Jesus name and the devil has no choice but to obey you because you are in Christ.
One good example to illustrate this is, when a king is in session. Growing up in Africa I’m familiar with this. When kings enter the room, to take his position on the thrown, they enter with an awe around them, they are like a hero, they walk to the throne with honour, power and majesty, there is such a stillness and silence that you can hear a pin drop. The moment the king seats every ear is listening to what he is about to say. And what ever that king proclaims from that seat becomes binding on his subjects. He doesn’t even have to do anything physically to enforce the decree, his delegates will see to it that the kings wishes or decree is done. Because the word of a king carries power.
As Christians our word has power when spoken in faith. As heirs of Christ we have angels waiting to serve us and execute our word because God is our Father. (Hebrews 1:14); (Psalm104:20). We are suppose to pray from our position in Christ. Our prayer posture should be that of REST in the finished work of Christ! As the Church of Jesus Christ we are not the tail. We are the head and we are walking on the devil’s head! That’s why Jesus said, “Behold! I have given you authority and power to trample upon serpents and scorpions, and [physical and mental strength and ability] over all the power that the enemy [possesses]; and nothing shall in any way harm you.” (Luke 10:19)
This is the fight, we have to fight as Christians. It is not a fight against flesh and blood, not against any human beings or governing authorities but it is against spiritual forces of darkness and wickedness in high places controlling people and opposing God’s will on earth. (Ephesians 6:12) This why I have titled this post “This is a good fight. Take it!You can take your healing, finances, family, your life and your community back for God.
Let’s “fight a good fight of faith” and take every thing God has for us and let us remember our responsibility to reach out to those bound in the clutches of Satan . God bless you as you press in for total victory in Jesus Name! 🙂
Though, the word clearly instructs us over and over not to be anxious for anything. But often, when we receive negative news we go on our impulses or feelings, allowing the spirit of fear and anxiety to take hold of us. Before we realize it, we are pointing our fingers at God, blaming him and if not God, we find others to blame.
When we give into our emotions , what we often fail to realize is that we are actually Playing right into the devil’s Hand! The devil wants you to keep your eyes on what is only possible on this earthly realm and on your limitations. He knows that if he can get you to focus on the natural realm he can box you in and hinder “Supernatural Intervention from Heaven.”
When your eyes are on your circumstances your focus is on the devil! But when you pray and humble yourself before God about the situation, asking God to help you and to have His way in your life, Heaven opens over you, God releases His angels to supernaturally intervene on your behalf and work a Miracle for you! (Heb 1:14; Psalm 103:20)
Lets take a look at 2 kings chapters 6 and 7. We can learn something very important about the “Power of Focus” from the King of Israel and Elisha the prophet.
The king of Israel was facing a tremendous and impossible situation; Instead of the king taking his needs to God; He took to his feelings, and fear took hold of him. All the king could see was lack, famine and people starving to death, the impossibilities and odds that were against him. He gave in to the pressure of his circumstances; He blamed God and His prophet, Elisha, for his problem and ordered the prophet to be killed.
Checking out the story on the other side….. Let’s take a look at Elisha. How did he react to the whole situation? Elisha had a totally different focus… .Elisha didn’t focus on the famine and impossibilities or even the death report from the king! Elisha put his focus on God of Miracles Signs and Wonders! His eyes were on the Supernatural! He meditates on the word and chose to channel his focus or thoughts on bringing to remembrance previous might acts of God! He remembered how:
God defiled the laws of gravity by causing an axe head to swim (2 kings 6:1-7)
God supernaturally cancelled a widows debt by multiplying the oil from a little jar to fill all the pots available until she ran out of pots (2kings 4:1-7)
God supernaturally opened an old woman’s dead womb to give birth to a son and also raised that child back to life when he died (2 kings 4:8-37)
God sent horses and chariots of fire to protect him (2 kings 6:8-18)
Elijah had the Right Focus, and because of that he was able to rule his feelings and emotions. Making use of the authority God has given him as a prophet, he spoke the Word of God over his situation. And God responded! He did not accuse God, or questioned God. And he did not wonder, if it was God’s will to deliver him. He confessed the Word of God, and God met him with a Miracle!!!
As children of God, He has given you and I the authority to ask in His Name
“And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.” (John 16:23-24)
What are the circumstances you are facing today? Don’t allow any negative attitude to rub you off your miracle. DECLARE THE WORD OF GOD!
Ask God for what you need in Jesus name!
